Sureserve welcomes £1.8BN boost to warm home plan
Sureserve Welcomes £1.8BN Boost to Warm Home Plan
The Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has announced a £1.8bn boost to the Warm Homes Plan, aimed at improving energy efficiency in homes across England.
Targeted at low-income households and social housing residents, the funding will support local authorities and housing associations in upgrading 170,000 homes with measures such as heating improvements, insulation, solar panels and heat pumps, helping to lower energy costs, reduce carbon emissions and enhance living conditions.
In total, 144 projects will receive up to £1.29bn via the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund, and 73 across 270 local authorities projects are set to receive £500m through the Warm Homes: Local Grant over the next three years.
Graham Levinsohn, CEO of Sureserve, commented on the announcement,
"I welcome the government’s continued investment in improving energy efficiency within social housing through this latest funding. This £1.8bn boost will provide vital support to local authorities and housing associations, many of whom we work with on a daily basis and see their passion and dedication in helping residents, despite budgetary pressures.
"The need for investment in warm, energy-efficient homes has never been more critical. With the alarming rise in fuel poverty, many social housing residents are struggling to afford basic heating, forcing them to make difficult choices between warmth and other essentials, and this will only be exacerbated by the incoming energy price increases.
"Cold, inefficient homes not only impact financial stability but also have severe consequences for health and wellbeing, exacerbating respiratory conditions and placing additional strain on our NHS.
"I would like to congratulate all our customers who have secured funding in this wave and look forward to continuing our work together to create healthier, more affordable and energy-efficient homes, helping to protect the most vulnerable in society."
